About

Pocket Verdict started as a group chat where a few of us kept recommending games to each other and arguing about them. At some point we realised the arguments were more useful than most of the reviews we were reading, so we turned them into a site.

There is no big publisher behind us. We are a small crew who actually finish the games we write about, or at least play them long enough to know how they feel after the shiny first hour wears off. That distinction matters more than people think.

Games get picked for a few reasons: something is generating buzz, a reader points us at it, or one of us simply falls down a rabbit hole and can't stop playing. We cover every genre because our tastes are all over the place, and honestly that keeps the writing fresh.

We don't rank games to please anyone. If something drags in the middle or nags you with pop-ups, we'll say so. The whole point is to save you the download when a game isn't worth it.
